Recording SYMPTOM
Recording cannot be started. TV broadcasts cannot be recorded. Tape-to-tape editing is not possible.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

CORRECTIVE ACTION

â There is no cassette loaded, or the cassette loaded â Insert a cassette, or using adhesive tape, reseal the has had its Record Safety tab removed. slot where the tab was removed. â "L-1", "F-1", "S-1" or "S-2" has been selected as the â Set to the desired channel. input mode. â The source (another video recorder, camcorder) has not been properly connected. â All necessary power switches have not been turned on. â The input mode is not correct. â Confirm that the source is properly connected. â Confirm that all units' power switches are turned on. â Set the input mode to âL-1â, âF-1â, âS-1â or âS-2â.

Camcorder recording is not possible.

â The camcorder has not been properly connected. â Confirm that the camcorder is properly connected. â The input mode is not correct. â Set the input mode to âL-1â, âF-1â, âS-1â or âS-2â.

Timer Recording SYMPTOM
Timer recording won't work.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
â The clock and/or the timer have been set incorrectly. â The timer is not engaged. â Timer recording is in progress.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
â Re-perform the clock and/or timer settings. â Press # and confirm that â#â is displayed on the display panel. â Timer programming can't be performed while a timer recording is in progress. Wait until it finishes. â Load a cassette with the Record Safety tab intact, or cover the hole using adhesive tape. â Remove the cassette and cover the hole with adhesive tape, or insert a cassette with the Record Safety tab intact. â Check the programmed data and re-program as necessary, then press # again. â The programme may not have been recorded in its entirety. Next time make sure you have enough time on the tape to record the entire programme. â Refer to âG-CODETM/SHOWVIEWTM System Setupâ and re-perform the procedure. ( 10)

On-screen timer programming is not possible. â#â on the display panel won't stop blinking.

â The timer is engaged but there's no cassette loaded. â The loaded cassette has had its Record Safety tab removed. â # has been pressed when there are no programs in memory, or the timer record information has been programmed incorrectly. â The end of the tape was reached during timer recording. â The recorder's channel positions have been set incorrectly.

â#â blinks for 10 seconds and the Timer mode is disengaged. The power shuts off and â#â won't stop blinking. The G-CODE/SHOWVIEW system does not timerrecord properly.

Other Problems SYMPTOM
Whistling or howling is heard from the TV during camcorder recording. When scanning channels, some of them are skipped over. The channel cannot be changed. Channel settings that were made manually seem to have changed or disappeared. No channels are stored in the recorder's memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
â The camcorder's microphone is too close to the TV. â The TV's volume is too high. â Those channels have been designated to be skipped. â Recording is in progress. â After the manual settings were made, Auto Channel Set was performed.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
â Position the camcorder so its microphone is away from the TV. â Turn the TV's volume down. â If you need the skipped channels, restore them. ( 5) â Press 9 to pause the recording, change channels, then press 4 to resume recording. â Perform manual setting again.

â The TV aerial cable was not connected to the recorder when Auto Set Up was performed.

â Connect the TV aerial cable to the recorder properly and turn off the recorder power once, then turn the recorder power back on again. The recorder will try Auto Set Up again. ( 5) â Replace the lithium battery with a new one. ( 2).
