Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Adjusting the sound
You can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference.
*1 When you adjust the bass, treble, or loudness, the
adjustment you have made is stored for the currently selected sound mode (C-EQ) including âUSER.â *2 If you are using a two-speaker system, set the fader
Select the item you want to adjust.
Each time you press the button, the adjustable items change as follows:
*3 Normally the control dial works as the volume
level to â00.â control. So you do not have to select âVOLâ to adjust the volume level. *4 Depending on the amplifier gain control setting. (See page 26 for details.)
Adjust the setting.
To increase the level or turn on the loudness To decrease the level or turn off the loudness Indication pattern changes as you adjust the bass or treble.

Adjust the bass.
Adjust the treble.
Adjust the front and rear speaker balance.
Ex. 1: When you adjust âTREâ (treble) LOUD indicator
Adjust the left and right speaker balance. Boost low and high frequencies to produce a wellbalanced sound at low volume level.
Ex. 2: When you turn on the loudness
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to adjust the other items.
Adjust the volume. 00 (min.) | 30 or 50 (max.)*4 To reset each sound mode to the factory settings, repeat the same procedure and reassign the preset values listed in the table on page 22.
