Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Setting the basic sound selection menuâ€”SEL
You can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference.
To adjust fader and balance â€”Fad/Bal
1 Enter the SEL menu (see page 5). 2 Select a setting itemâ€”â€śFad/Bal,â€ť
â€śSubwoofer,â€ť or â€śVolAdjust.â€ť
Adjust the faderâ€”speaker output balance between the front and rear speakers. â€¢ Upmostâ€”front only â€¢ Downmostâ€”rear only
Adjust the balanceâ€”speaker output balance between the left and right speakers.
Ex.: When â€śFad/Balâ€ť is selected
â€¢ Leftmostâ€”left only â€¢ Rightmostâ€”right only
When selecting â€śFad/Balâ€ť and â€śSubwoofer,â€ť press enter the selected menu.
3 Adjust the selected setting item.
To adjust subwoofer outputâ€” Subwoofer
Select an appropriate cutoff frequency level according to the subwoofer connected. â€¢ To adjust other SEL settings, press BACK. â€¢ 55Hz / 85Hz / 115Hz
4 Finish the procedure.
â€¢ Frequencies higher than the selected level are cut off to the subwoofer. Adjust the subwoofer output level. â€¢ 0 (min.) to 8 (max.)
