Whilst this is a photo copy, and some of the pages are a little askew, it was all readable and intact. A real bonus finding an old manual for a classic piece of kit that no other site had.

Adjusting the volume
Press the VOLUME � or VOLUME + button. Caution: DO NOT turn off the unit with the volume set to an extremely high level; otherwise a sudden blast of sound could damage your hearing and/or the speakers and headphones, when you turn on the unit or start playing another source next time. REMEMBER you cannot adjust the volume unless the unit is turned on.
Selecting the sound mode
Sound mode can be selected to enhance the type of music being played. Press the SOUND button repeatedly until the sound mode you want appears in the display window. Alternatively, press the SOUND/HBS button on the remote control unit. Each time you press the button, the sound mode changes as follows:
Turning off the sound temporarily
During playback, press the MUTING button on the remote control unit. Playback continues without sound. To restore the sound, press the MUTING button again or increase or decrease the volume level.

� No indication. The sound mode is canceled.
Reinforcing the bass sound
You can enjoy powerful bass sound with the Hyper-Bass Sound effect. Press and hold the SOUND button so that the HBS indicator lights up in the display window. Alternatively, press and hold the SOUND/HBS button on the remote control unit. To turn off the effect, press and hold the button again so that the HBS indicator goes off.
Listening through headphones
Connect a pair of headphones to the PHONES jack. No sound comes out of the speakers anymore. Be sure to turn down the volume before connecting headphones.
