I purchased the unit from a private party and the original owners manual was not available. Having the ability to download it was extremely helpful and clarified operating the equipment immensely. This is a complicated unit and without the manual I would not have been able to maximize it's potential. Thank you.

Insert Editing and AV Dubbing
Insert Editing: You can replace a recorded scene with new scene recorded on another tape or with other material. Both the picture and the sound recorded on the Hi-Fi sound track are replaced at the same time.
B Select input mode
Select âF-1â âwhen connecting the other component to the audio/video input connectors on the front panel. Select âL-1â âwhen connecting the other component to the audio/video input connectors on the rear panel. Press AUX or CH+/â on the Remote. Or push the JOG dial, then turn it to the left or right.

Select the appropriate mode depending on the connector being used ( pg. 19). When using S-VIDEO input connector on the front panel, set âFRONT AUX INPUTâ to âS-VIDEOâ. When using S-VIDEO IN connector on the rear panel, set âREAR AUX INPUTâ to âS-VIDEOâ. When using VIDEO input connector on the front panel, set âFRONT AUX INPUTâ to âVIDEOâ. When using VIDEO IN connector on the rear panel, set âREAR AUX INPUTâ to âVIDEOâ.
D Select edit mode
Set the edit mode to âONâ for the VCRs if such a mode is equipped. â On this VCR, set âPICTURE CONTROLâ to âEDITâ ( pg. 18).
AV Dubbing: You can perform Audio Dubbing and Insert Editing at the same time. This means that the picture and the sounds recorded on the Hi-Fi sound track and on the normal track are replaced at the same time. â For AV Dubbing, you can edit pictures and sound using different sources; connect a video source to the video input connector, and an audio source to the audio input connectors.
E Locate end point
A Load the cassette to be edited into the VCR and press PLAY (4). B Press PAUSE (9) when you find the end of the scene for which you want to edit. C Press C.RESET so that the counter reading becomes â0:00:00â.
F Locate start point, and engage Insert Editing mode
Press REW (3), then press PAUSE (9) when you find the beginning of the scene for which you want to edit, then press INSERT. â The VCR enters the Insert Editing Pause mode. â â and â$â light on the display panel. â If you want to perform AV Dubbing and replace the picture, Hi-Fi audio soundtrack and normal audio soundtrack all at the same time, press INSERT, then press A.DUB also.

G Start editing
Load the source cassette and engage the Play mode of the other component, then press PLAY (4) on the VCR. Insert Editing begins at this point. â Insert Editing stops automatically when the counter reaches â0:00:00â, and the VCR enters the Play mode.
A Make connections
Connect an audio/video cable between the VCRâs audio/video input connectors and the other componentâs audio/video output connectors. â Insert Editing and AV Dubbing are possible by using the audio/ video input connectors on the front panel or on the rear panel.

To stop editing any time during recording
Press STOP (8) on the Remote or STOP/EJECT (0) on the VCR, then engage the Stop mode of the other component.
â Be sure to select âAUTOâ for âPICTURE CONTROLâ (or âNORMâ when âVIDEO CALIBRATIONâ is set to âOFFâ) after you finish editing ( pg. 18). â Editing is not possible with a cassette whose record safety tab has been removed. If you want to record onto a tape with its record safety tab removed, set âREC SAFETYâ to âOFFâ ( pg. 19). â The recording speed (SP/EP) is determined by the previous recording to be replaced. If the recording speed changes on the tape to be edited while editing the tape, the inserted picture will be distorted where the recording speed changes. â When you edit a tape, a small portion of the recording preceding to the editing start point will be erased from the edited tape. â DAY/TIME INSERT ( pg. 19) is not available during Insert Editing.
